The Komi Republic occupies 416 thousand km² in area, it is located in the north-east of Russia. It is located in a subarctic climate with temperatures ranging from +1 to -6.3. Summers are short and cool, in the north it is cold. In winter, it is characterized by a lot of snow. This republic is distinguished by a varied relief; the Ural Mountains are located in the east. There are enough flat, mountain, karst rivers and 78 thousand lakes on the territory. Swamps occupy about 8% of the territory. The largest is the bog ocean, the Usinsk bog.

Swamps are natural resources for collecting medicinal herbs and berries. Meadows are found near large rivers. Dry meadows are located in the southern taiga. Yugyd-Va is a national park that is included in the UNESCO list.
The Komi Republic is known for its mineral resources, including almost all elements from the periodic table. The territory is rich in coal, oil, natural gas, titanium, ores, rock salt.
The Komi Republic is an area of high humidity, precipitation prevails over evaporation. The distribution of water resources is not uniform, there are flood zones. The largest rivers are Pechora and Vychegda. The length of the first is 1570 km, the second is 920 km.
