Angelica officinalis

Angelica (angelica) medicinal – a plant from the “Umbrella” family, the “Diaghilevs” genus. The homeland of the plant is Eurasia. It is used as a medicinal and spice-aromatic agent.

The herbaceous plant called angelica is a food, aromatic and medicinal species. People have long used angelica for various types of food poisoning and as a cleansing agent.

The usefulness and healing properties of angelica are recognized today by official medicine. It is used in the treatment of cardiovascular, respiratory diseases, problems with the stomach and intestines, and malfunctions of the nervous system. The substances in the plant are fortifying and tonic for human organs. Medical research has shown that angelica has anticancer properties.

The pleasant aroma emanating from angelica allows it to be used as a flavoring agent in baking culinary products and in perfumery.

Angelica is a melliferous plant. Angelica honey is fragrant and reddish in color.

Angelica or angelica grows in the territories of Russia, located in European regions and in the Far East. Some species are found in New Zealand.

He loves wet areas along the shores of lakes, rivers, streams, near swamps. Damp soils and places well lit by the sun are favorable for the growth of angelica.

Angelica stems are straight and can grow up to two meters in height. Inside it is empty and has a cylindrical shape. Brownish stripes are drawn on the outside. The leaves are pinnate, segmented, with elongated petioles. Below, near the root, they are formed in the form of a rosette.

The inflorescence looks like an umbrella with a diameter of 20 centimeters. It spreads out in many rays. Each one has small flowers of light green color. Flowering takes place all summer.

By the end of summer, seed fruits appear, disintegrating in half and spilling out onto the soil. Large and branched root, has a diameter within 8 centimeters.

Angelica medicinal contains a large number of substances that are beneficial:

  • tanning and pectin;
  • essential oils;
  • useful acids (ascorbic, malic, valeric, etc.);
  • phosphorus, calcium.

Angelica is called “the giver of strength.” It has a beneficial effect on the immune system and the circulatory system. Angelica roots contain elements that have an expectorant, diuretic, anti-inflammatory and sedative effect.

Alcohol tincture is used in the treatment of rheumatism, radiculitis, arthritis, gout.

Chinese healers believe that the medicinal composition of the angelica plant is second only to the ginseng root in properties.

Angelica medicinal, which has medicinal effects, has some limitations. The use of preparations containing the plant is not recommended in the following cases:

  • if there is increased blood clotting;
  • with thrombophlebitis;
  • in the postinfarction period;
  • with diabetes mellitus;
  • during menstruation and uterine bleeding;
  • during pregnancy and lactation;
  • if there is sexual weakness.

Angelica – medicinal herb

To normalize digestion (gas accumulation, fermentation, spasms), for colds, cholecystitis and gynecological inflammations, an infusion of angelica herb is used:

  1. It is necessary to take the roots, leaves, seeds (1 tablespoon each).
  2. Grind everything.
  3. Boil three glasses of clean water and add the mixture.
  4. Insist for six hours, then strain.
  5. Drink ½ cup three times a day.

For some diseases, for example, colitis, gastritis (with high acidity), problems with the respiratory tract and heart, you can prepare a tincture from angelica roots:

  1. Put two hundred grams of root (dried and crushed) in a container;
  2. Pour 0.5 liters of vodka (high quality) there;
  3. Insist 14 days in a sunny place.
  4. After straining and drink three times a day (20 drops each).

Tincture can rub the joints.

For problems with the gallbladder and liver, bronchitis, colds, use angelica decoction:

  1. The crushed dried root (in the amount of three tablespoons) is poured with boiling water (two hundred milliliters).
  2. Heat for half an hour in a water bath.
  3. Cool and then drain.
  4. Add up to 250 ml of boiled water.
  5. Drink a hot broth in the morning and evening after a meal, 130 milliliters each.

Angelica oil can only be used for external treatments:

  1. Treat swollen places and where there is cellulite (removes toxins);
  2. Rub in for rheumatic pains and arthritis.

For normal digestive function, mix two to three drops with a teaspoon of coconut, almond or olive oil. Apply to abdomen and rub in circular motions.
